Sorry, but there is not going to be much this week. I have been out of town all weekend and very away from my computer. Yes, it was nice.
We will be closed on the Fourth of July.
Drink and Draw July
Our next Drink and Draw will be Thursday, July 11 at 8:00pm at our usual haunt, Good Sons.
I can tell you last week’s reads were great though. If you have not read the second issues of Jupiter’s Legacy and the Wake, both are better than their first. Both move the story forward either in better than expected ways or ways I was not expecting, but still for the better.
Three other books, all post apocalyptic, were some of the best of the week. The Massive may have had its best issue yet – they arrived in New York and things are getting bad. Lazarus is also fantastic. This brand new book by Greg Ruka and Michael Lark is… well, I’m not really sure what to describe it as. I guess post apocalyptic political intrigue and possible espionage book? Either way, it is good.
The book though that was the most surprising was Wild Blue Yonder. This post apocalyptic sky pirate book runs with the idea that the earth is irradiated, a wasteland and humanity has taken to the skies where small groups fight for survival. Absolutely great! Ronnie recommended I give it a read (he had ordered it) and I ordered a few more for that wall after selling out the first week. He was so dead on right (he usually is.) I have ordered even more, but don’t know how long they will last.
And then the two best reads last week… Daredevil and Hawkeye. Seriously, can superhero comics get better than these two? And Hawkeye didn’t even feature Clint Barton.
Here is – from last week – a repost of the issues, concerns and my command to you to get your orders in on DC 3D Villains month. If I do not have your September orders by the end of July, YOU WILL NOT HAVE DC BOOKS PULLED!!! Kyle and I have decided we will not be taking ALL the risk on this, frankly, idiotic throw back to the 1990s crap that nearly killed this industry. How bad do I think this idea is, I not only hope they lose their shirts on it, I hope some gets fired over it.
Why do I feel so strongly about this? Well, it has a complete disregard for the retailer. I have already been told by many customers they are good without them and have started to cancel DC books they are (or were) still getting, but what about the ones that don’t tell me? That leads us to have to us eating the leftovers. There are no returns and that is A LOT of money we are throwing around on something we see a lack of support for already.
So PLEASE, look at this and order what you want.
