special mid week note

For nearly two months we have been collecting orders for DC’s Villain Month in September.  This is the event that will see many of DC’s books published with a villain taking over the lead of said book.  It will also be published up to four times that month and with special 3D motion covers.

For example, Batman will be published 23.1: Joker, 23.2: The Riddler and so on.  We assume the stories will focus on the villains only, but can’t be 100% sure on that.  The special motion covers are increasing prices too.  Each issue will be $3.99.

The reason we have been collecting and tabulating orders is because, as we suspected, many customers would not be willing to fork over not only more for these books, but more each week and for four straight weeks.  Total cost of a regular book, like say Batman and Robin is $2.99.  Cost for the 3D cover Batman and Robin all four weeks of Villain’s Month is $16.  However, I think you all knew this information.

I am not going to get into my personal feelings at how bad an idea I feel this is, but the situation has now been made even more chaotic.

Yesterday, we were told all of these issues are sold out and some will be allocated.  We do not yet know the extent of these allocation and details have not yet even been figured out by DC (seriously, don’t get me started on them right now) let alone been passed on to us.  However, they have told us there will be a print run of each comic in a non-enhanced $2.99 priced cover.

Why do I bring this information to you?  Well, it is twofold.

-          If you want to alter your order from the $3.99 cover to the $2.99 cover, please just let us know, but do so as soon as possible.

-          If you want additional issues you didn’t order, for whatever reason – say you would have ordered all the Bat-books but couldn’t because of price and now can – please let us know as soon as possible.

We hope that this will actually help in getting everyone the comics they want and may even increase our overall orders.  It doesn’t change my feelings of DC and how this was handled though so stay tuned to next week’s weekly e-mail for a rant like you haven’t ever seen before.

IF we receive notice of the allocations and are not going to receive enough books for the initial orders we placed we will contact each customer on a case by case basis.

Thank you for your understanding in these incompetent comic’s times we live in.
